What started life as a standard 1980s suburban residence, has been transformed into a dream Hamptons-style family home.

The tranquil coastal location is reflected by the clever and subtle styling of owners Hayley and Luke. A stunning kitchen and dining space flows onto a Hollywood-esque pool area, creating the ultimate entertaining space for summer.

Enjoy the fresh white coastal palette combined with light, bright and airy spaces that allow the cane furniture, pops of greenery and carefully selected decor pieces to shine.

Happy House Perving!

Q: Firstly – please tell us a little about you, your work and who is currently living at your home.

H: My name is Hayley and I live here with my husband Luke, my two-year-old son Vincent and our dog Sophia. I am the co-owner and operator of The Lucky Hotel in Newcastle CBD, and my husband has his own building company.

Q: Now onto your home – can you tell us about the home’s story?

H: The house was built in the early 1980’s with little to no renovations or extensions made until we purchased the house in May 2018.

What was meant to be a small renovation turned into a huge one!

Q: Do you have any specific stories to tell about this project– wins and fails?!

H: There were the common setbacks and stresses like with any home renovations. In fact, we almost got divorced before we were even were married (ha ha!).

We moved in during January 2019 without running water in the kitchen due to supplier delays, which was pretty difficult with a little one.

It has all been worthwhile and we particularly love the way we designed our open plan living on the main level. Our huge glass sliding doors open up from the dining/kitchen area to the patio and pool. It makes for great entertaining, especially during the summer months.

Q: What or who are your key style inspirations?

H: I would have to say my Mum. She has a great sense of style in both fashion and interiors and has an eclectic way of bringing it all together.

Q: How you would describe your interior style?

H: Even though my current home does not reflect it, I have a real love for Mexican style architecture, Moroccan styling and interiors, and Californian homes that typically have Mediterranean and Spanish influence.

My current home however is a modern take on the Hamptons Style.

Q: What you love most about living in your house?

H: I love our bedroom. It receives warm natural light all day long and I always feel a sense of calm when I enter the space.

Q: Can you tell us about the location and you what do you enjoy most?

H: Our location is very tranquil, backing onto the beach and bush. It is a great place to raise a family.

We live 10 minute’s from Dudley Beach and five minutes to the Fernleigh Track.
Pegs Café at Whitebridge shops serves consistently good coffee and is our daily go-to!

Q: Is it your forever home? If not, where to next?!

H: We have purchased a block of land on Parkway Ave, Bar Beach where we (eventually) plan to build our forever home in a traditional Moroccan style and layout.

Q: Three words you would use to describe your home?

H: Clean. Aspirational. Honest.
